About us

Unique stories of unknown wineries

Introduction

With Beyond The Bottle, we want to introduce you to wines that are not yet available on the Dutch market.

Our focus is on quality wines, from small winegrowers with an extraordinary or unique story.

We will go on an expedition to these wines for you, we really take the effort to capture the unique story & bring a limited edition to the Netherlands.

And all of this fully supported by our connoisseurs (vinologists & wine experts).

Because we live in a world with unlimited choices, there is never the time & space to try everything. That is why we have made the special choice to offer only one wine, because we believe in giving "something unique" the full attention to come into its own.

How it all began

On a cozy evening with wine lovers friends, an unfamiliar bottle of wine arrived on the table. Someone had brought it with him from vacation and spoke at length about the winery he had visited and the beautiful wines they make. We were shown pictures and videos and of course we were allowed to taste the wine. Well, it was a top-notch wine. We had a great evening. The experience during that evening proved to be the breeding ground for the concept of Beyond The Bottle.

We started brainstorming how to introduce wine lovers to unknown wineries. We soon had a plan to create an online platform for this purpose where we take the space to tell a story about the wineries with beautiful atmospheric images.
Of course we also think it is important that people can taste these wines, but we did not want to start a wine webshop. After all, there are already enough of those.

This is how the idea of the wine stories was born. Every 1 or 2 months we want to publish a new wine story and offer a limited amount of wine to go with it. We buy a small quantity of wine once and you can purchase it while supplies last. After that, it's done: The story has been told, the wine has been tasted. Time for the next expedition.

There are hundreds of wineries in Europe that make exceptional wines but never reach the Dutch market. Because we buy a limited edition & put our energy into portraying the complete story (is an intensive collaboration between us & the winemaker - so we really build a bond and we get to the core even more), the winemakers also allow us to offer the wine on the Dutch market. Precisely because we bring a limited edition once, it makes this unique collaboration possible. After all, small wine farmers have too few bottles for large commercial wine stores or web shops. An extremely suitable match, therefore.

Here's how we do it

From exploration to wine story

1

The exploration

We will explore an area of Europe with a small group of wine lovers. We will visit several wineries and taste many wines. Of the tastiest wines we will take a few boxes back to the Netherlands for further evaluation by our connoisseurs.

2

The tasting

During several tastings throughout the Netherlands, the wines will be independently judged by a number of connoisseurs (true specialists in the field of wine - including well-known vinologists). During these tastings, we will also explain the "Beyond The Bottle" story to them.

Of the best-scoring wine, we will start capturing the story in an expedition.

3

The expedition

Together with our cameraman, director and copywriter, we will take our bus to the selected winery. We plan about 2 to 3 days for this expedition, in order to really get to know the winery(s) and capture the story as purely as possible on film and in writing.

With each expedition we try to create something extra, such as inviting a chef to create a perfect matching dish among the "vines" that goes well with the environment & the wine.

At the end of the expedition, we load our wagon full of the selected wine and set sail for the Netherlands.

4

The publication

Once home......then there is work to do. We want to convey the story as purely as possible, so that you feel you have been on an expedition yourself. Once the portrait of the winemaker & winery is done.....the wine is ready to be published on our website.

Through our socials, we will keep our followers informed when the new story will be published.

After publication, you can order the wine online!
Is the wine sold out? The story has been told, the wine has been tasted. Time for the next expedition.

What will be our next story?
